There are two main types of sleep apnea in children and adolescents:

central sleep apnea and obstructive sleep apnea. Central sleep apnea is a more common sleep disorder in infants.

02 CAUSES OF OBSTRUCTIVE PEDIATRIC SLEEP APNEA

Being overweight is a common cause of sleep apnea in adults, and sleep apnea can affect weight in turn.

The most common cause of obstructive sleep apnea in children is enlarged tonsils or adenoids.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea Effects on Children: Can range from moderate to severe. Initially, mild sleep apnea cases can cause moderate well-being issues such as irritability and lack of ability to concentrate.
